Eva Orthmann is Professor of Iranian Studies at the University of Göttingen. Her research focuses on Mughal Empire, astrology, Indo-Persian transfer of knowledge and culture, Ismāʿīliyya, history of science, tribalism. Among her numerous publications are Stamm und Macht. Die arabischen Stämme im 2. und 3. Jahrhundert der Hiǧra (2002), Lehrbuch der Persischen Sprache (2013, Second and revised edition 2016), The Occult Sciences in Pre-modern Islamic Cultures (2017).
