Peter Machinist

Peter Machinist (Ph.D. Yale University) is the Hancock Professor Emeritus of Hebrew and other Oriental Languages at Harvard University. A scholar of Assyriology and Hebrew culture, he has researched and published extensively on ancient Mesopotamia, Classical Judaism, Near Eastern archaeology, the Hebrew Bible, and interconnections in ancient Near Eastern history. His books include Provincial Governance in Middle Assyria (Undena, 1982) and Letters from Priests to the Kings Esarhaddon and Assurbanipal (Eisenbrauns, 1998).
