John Baines

John Baines (D.Phil. Oxford University) is Professor Emeritus of Egyptology at the University of Oxford. He has published widely on all aspects of Ancient Egyptian literature, writing system and literacy, art, and religion. In addition to several edited volumes and numerous articles, his recent books include Visual and Written Culture in Ancient Egypt (Oxford University Press, 2007) and High Culture and Experience in Ancient Egypt: Studies in Egyptology and Ancient Near East (Equinox, 2013).
